Welcome to this episode of The Shooting The Breeze Sailing Podcast (STBSP) with our guest Bryant Gorrell who founded the Upper Chesapeake Sailing group over on Facebook. Bryant grew up in the area that I keep my boat, along the North East River in Cecil County, MD. We chat about how he sailed as a kid in the river and bought a Chrysler Buccaneer with his brother, racing in the Havre De’Grace area, and up through his current boat based in Middle River, a Catalina 30.
After setting up the FB group and being a part of a local cruising club, we get into some of the trips they’ve taken and some favorite anchorages in the upper bay. We also get into a new venture he’s taken on, whereby he sponsors a weekly zoom call on the weekends in the offseason, featuring various experts in various fields of interest to sailors in general, such as emergency sewing, sail trim, celestial navigation, and docking without getting divorced with Captain Boomies!
Hopefully can get together on a sailing trip at some point, and maybe even meet up at a boat show!
