2026 Chesapeake Bay Boat Show

Welcome to this episode of the Shooting the Breeze Sailing Podcast (STBSP), episode 201.

This episode we weather the freezing cold and wind, head inside, and check out the Chesapeake Bay Boat Show up in Timonium, MD and the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

It ostensibly is a power boat show, with lots of skiffs, center consoles, fishing boats and lots of lifestyle vendors.

I was interested in the fishing center and talking with a charter captain out of Ocean City, MD, but they didn’t want to be on the mic. They suggested another captain, but they were away from the stand.

I was able to talk with Cindy Freland, a local author and publisher of childrens books specifically tailored to the Chesapeake Bay Area with her “Chesapeake Bay Adventures Book Series” over at cbaykidsbooks.com. Her series features the wildlife apparent in the Chesapeake Bay area, with everything from Oysters to Mermaids! She also helps folks self publish their stories by way of a book and seminars she hosts locally.

I stumbled into friend of the Podcast Haydn Foy at a booth the Maryland Marina set up. As we were talking he motioned me over to the Misfit Winery booth, so we had to have a taste, buy a bottle, and have a chat with Stephanie and Micheal, the current proprietors of said Winery.

After that we caught a seminar from Chesapeake Bay Media about cruising the Bay presented by John Stefancik.

We stopped by the Apex Marine Services booth where they had several Nanni Diesel engines on display. They are a SeaKeeper and also specialize in generators and Caterpiller products. They are a full service shop for all of your boating needs and located in Herrington Harbor North.

Finally, we sit down with Haydn to talk about all sorts of things ranging from Maryland Marina and 20 some odd years of being a member and boat owner, to Lazy Jack Schooners. Thanks to Haydn for being a supporter and friend of the podcast and for sitting down and Shooting the Breeze about sailing on a cold winters day!

Also, thanks to Josh Davidson of Anchors and Oars for the assist in getting into the show.
