Welcome to episode 111 of The Shooting The Breeze Sailing Podcast (STBSP) featuring a chat I had with Rick Nelson, owner, along with his wife Jenny, of the Annapolis Sailing School. This is the second episode to feature the school, last episode we spoke with John Cosby, managing director who runs the day to day operations there. This chat with Rick is more widespread in scope, chatting about owning a sailing business in the Annapolis Area, how to reach out to the community and get them to come sailing in spite of some perceived obstacles for many folks in the area, what sort of events and programs Annapolis Sailing School offers or are planning for the future in addition to, and enhancements for, the three main programs they run currently (Kidship, The Keelboat Club, and adult learning to sail classes), and what may come in the future. Please be sure to check them out here to get involved!
Also included in this episode is a track from the Hot Club of Reading called Still Deciding. Sailing buddy Josh Taylor is a member in the band and passed along the CD “Swing 18.” The track in question was written by his son Josiah.
