In this episode, #195 of the Shooting the Breeze Sailing Podcast (STBSP), we talk again with Thad Van Gilder about his new business, Tuckahoe Traditional Watercraft, LLC, which will be mostly a Bronze Boat Hardware business, with distribution through Anchors and Oars in Grasonville, MD.
We talked with Thad about all things sailing back in February of 2025, but now he is back talking about his new side hustle, Forging and Casting bronze boat hardware and accessories.
We had a blast recording this one after dinner at Springhouse Brewery in Lancaster, PA. I learned a lot about traditional boat hardware and the process of Forging and Casting metals, which in central PA, is a long lasting tradition.
His exclusive distributor will be Anchors and Oars, in Grasonville, MD, which can be found at www.sailboatparts.com.
Not only will he have builder plates, blocks, hangers and other sail, power, and row boat parts, he will have other nick knacks as well, such as drawer pulls and caulking irons.
I also talk about our recent guest spot on the Funny Boat Podcast with Captain Boomies and Ed the Broker with the Beard, speaking about the upcoming Boaters Boat show at Lighthouse Marina in Baltimore, as part of their BoatFest. We hung out at the new Pussers Landing and had a ball! I plan on being there September 6th, so see you there!
