Capt. Bradford Rogers from How Not To Sail getting ready to podcast!

Welcome everyone to this episode of The Shooting The Breeze Sailing Podcast (STBSP)! This time around we are talking with Bradford Rogers, creator and host of the How Not To Sail Podcast, YouTube Channel, and Book! The podcast is a well produced, narrative driven, humorous podcast that starts out with an interview with Bob Bitchin himself, whereby Bradford blames the good Capt. Bitchin for “Ruining his life” with his sailing lifestyle magazine, Lattitudes and Attitudes (formerly Cruising Outpost.) The podcast continues as he starts and takes a sailing journey from the west coast of Florida to the 2019 edition of the Miami Boat show. This story, along with the ones in the book, are all in the vein of “Let’s go sailing, what could possibly Go Wrong? It is all a bit tongue in cheek good fun, but there’s lots of actual learning how to sail going on veiled in the humor of How Not to Sail. The Book goes back further in his sailing history and is a very enjoyable read!
This is the first time I have put together a podcast where each person was recorded locally and married up later in post, I think it came out pretty good, trying to up the game in the podcast in the near future. Bradford is also a Multi-Media specialist and we get into the weeds somewhat on podcast mics and such. Speaking of Podcasting, I remark a bit on the sudden passing of film director Lynn Shelton last week. She has done lots of amazing work that you probably didn’t know you have seen, lots of TV work. More pertinent to the conversation is the fact that for the last year she had been in a relationship with comedian and podcaster Marc Maron, a big influence of mine. His episode from Monday a week ago is an important, yet very difficult thing to listen to. The intro and Outtro were recorded by him in his home studio literally within 48 hours of her death, 72 hours after he last saw her alive as she was being taken away by the emergency services folks. I can’t imagine going through all of that, and then getting on a mic and talking to the masses about it. The positive effect she had on him over the past year has been obvious to any long listening fan of his, and this loss is felt by all of us as well. Godspeed Lynn Shelton.
